Every 007 Gadget Ever (video)

Who would have thought, way back in the early 50s when Ian Fleming started writing his short novels about super spy James Bond, that he was introducing a legend to the world, a name which would go down in the annals of cinematic history. When I was a mere lad, I purchased and read every single James Bond book, and they still form a part of my library to this day.

Sean Connery remains my favorite James Bond, the original and the best. I always thought Roger Moore was a tad effeminate for the role. I did enjoy Pierce Brosnan’s 007 however and quite like Daniel Craig in the role – although, the more recent Bond movies have forgone much of the fun and tend to take themselves a tad too seriously.

Back in the day, James Bond films were a little more tongue-in-cheek, with names for female leads such as Pussy Galore and Honey Rider. It was an era when every aspiring starlet dreamed of becoming the next “Bond girl” and singers dreamed of performing the next Bond movie theme song. And, of course, there was always the gadgets, dreamt up and distributed by the inimitable “Q”.

YouTube channel Burger Fiction has produced a montage of clips showing every awesome gadget built for Bond by Q Branch. Totaling 193 gadgets in all, this 16.5 minute video highlighting the 007 technology includes a lot of the standards – lasers, rockets and so on – but there are also some true gems such as the spike umbrella, the classic car ejection seat and the Aston Martin’s array of awesome weaponry. If you are a James Bond fan, this is a must see video – fun and nostalgic:
