Daves Computer Tips is offering our subscribers the chance to win a copy of Windows 8.1 64-bit, including installation media and genuine product key, absolutely free!

Bearing in mind that XP’s end of support date is just around the corner, and many XP users will be looking to upgrade their operating system, we thought this might be a timely and useful prize.

DCT is pretty much the ‘home’ of Windows 8/8.1. Dave, myself, and Richard are all running Windows 8.1 and we all like the new operating system. Between us, we have written and published numerous articles, all drawn from first hand experience – guides, tips, how-tos, and the like – to help users setup and manage their new operating system.

It’s a terrific resource for anyone upgrading to Windows 8 or 8.1 and you can access all those articles in the one place by utilizing the ‘Post Categories’ feature in the right hand navigation panel. Just click on the ‘Windows 8’ item to view a list of links to all relevant titles:

For your chance to win the Windows 8.1 64-bit disc and genuine product key, all you need do is simply submit a reply to this article with a comment. We’d prefer if you told us a little about yourself and why you would like a copy of Windows 8.1.

*Now, DCT has never limited its giveaways to Facebook and/or Twitter account holders, our policy has always been “open to everyone”, and we are not changing that now. However, it would be very much appreciated if all Facebook and Twitter account holders who enter the contest could Share, or Like, or Tweet, or whatever you can do to help spread the word. Thanks!

  1. I’d like a copy of Windows 8.1 since I am planning to upgrade from Windows 7 Basic. It’s about 3 years now of using Windows 7 and there are a lot of issues I have encountered with 7 that I hear are corrected and improved in Windows 8.1. Capability wise you are not hindered with the new Windows 8.1. I have XP (licensed) in another partition and it is due to the hindrances or limitations that I get with the basic edition of Windows 7 Basic. As of the moment shelling money is out of the questions as I am still reeling from the economy and just plain can’t afford it(my Windows 7 basic copy came with the laptop).

  2. yes i need a win 8.1 64bit because i have a win8 64 bit, but not able to upgrade to 8.1

  3. Jim Lipscomb

I would use this on a new build if it is more than just and “upgrade” key.

  4. My granddaughter is on her way to college and they would li9ke to have her use win 8 instead of 7. Bought her a laptop for her senior year and can’t afford the upgrade.

  5. HI,

Thx a lot for the give away 😉

I would love a copy of Windows 8.1, i have been saving up for a few months to build a new PC and I’m getting close to having enough money for it and having a copy of 8.1 would be great to put onto the new set up 🙂

Good luck everyone and thx again for this cool give away 🙂

  6. This would be wonderful to win! Still using XP on my desktop. Thanks for giving us the chance. Good luck everyone!!

  7. What are the things I like about Windows 8?
    1) Very fast bootup times.
    2) Desktop mode is like a faster Win 7 UI
Great giveaway, count me in, please. Best redards!

  8. Hello, I know just about every one complains about win8.1,But I have it on my seven year old vista desktop and I love everything about it. When MS offered wins 8 and pro. for $39.00 online I purchased the OS because I couldn’t afford win7. I know it didn’t have a start menu but that wasn’t a problem for me. This was a new operating system that I still love. I have a seven year old laptop with win vista on it that I would put it on ,but I don’t think it is a 64 bit machine. The desktop has Windows 8.1 Pro with media center 32bit. If I win I’ll save enough for a newer computer. Thank you for the contest.

  9. I was always afraid installing Windows 8 because they sad it was ugly, unfamiliar, to hard to get used with, and so on. I do have Windows 7 instead which satisfies me a lot and I would like to finally try out the new 8.1 version that on all forums they agree is a good product. I need to convince myself so I want your license. It should fit well on a new PC that I’m buying.
I like a lot testing and fixing computers, hardware and software issues and I advice my friends in what is worth when it comes to PC’s. Since a lot of them are tented to try Windows 8.2 I just need to be the first of my class, right?

Thanks in advance. Peace and love from Italy!

  10. Thank you for providing this giveaway. I hope to win this. Have been using windows 7 and would like to upgrade.

  11. I believe it is important to stay abreast of technology. Friends that already have this OS assure me of how much more stable it is than previous renditions.

  12. I am presently putting together a computer with various new and used parts for a relative. Windows 8.1 would be ideal to target the hardware for.
    Thanks

  13. i need to upgrade my os Vista, I used Win 8 this winter working on customers computers and like it.

  14. I would like to upgrade my Vista machine. I have no problems with Vista but would be nice to learn 8.1!

  17. Nevzat Akkaya

Windows 8.1 is the fastest Windows to date, it has both classic and touch interfaces, meaning Windows 7 + Metro!
    I love it!

  18. I am Mahesh. I am in the process of buying a new desktop. I need the latest version of Windows, which happens to be Windows 8.1. The 64 bit version will be perfect for all those who buy a PC these days as 32 bit OS cannot address more than 3.2GB of RAM. Today’s barest minimum RAM is 4 GB, so everyone should look for 64 bit version only.

Thanks DC and its members 🙂
