Every storage device has a finite lifespan – unfortunately – and the common hard drive and SSD are no exception to this rule. Fortunately for us both devices can be monitored for signs of failure using S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) and everyone should have a tool to do so in their virtual tech toolbox. Hard Disk Sentinel is one of those tools.

HDSentinel’s software monitors the S.M.A.R.T. data, temperature, and performance of your drives and presents it in an easy to understand manor visually, or by email. Hard Disk Sentinel Professional also allows the user to run seek, surface, and extended tests on drives and, should conditions indicate a failing drive , perform an emergency backup of critical files! You can use Hard Drive Sentinel to find out the present condition of a drive in real time, or to monitor drive(s) over time which allows you to see drive conditions trends before a failure causes loss of data.

Hard Disk Sentinel (HDSentinel) is a multi-OS SSD and HDD monitoring and analysis software. Its goal is to find, test, diagnose and repair hard disk drive problems, report and display SSD and HDD health, performance degradations and failures. Hard Disk Sentinel gives complete textual description, tips and displays/reports the most comprehensive information about the hard disks and solid state disks inside the computer and in external enclosures.

Hard Disk Sentinel Professional

When you open Hard Disk Sentinel Professional you will see the main window, which will present an overview of all the drives installed on your computer along with temperature and health ratings from drives which provide that information. .

Clicking the Temperature tab will show temperature details for whichever drive you select in the left column. You can also set thresholds from here that will trigger notifications or perform other actions chosen by you.

The following tab shows the raw S.M.A.R.T. data from the drive selected in the left column and allows you to ignore or adjust how the program uses the data.

The information tab shows detailed information about the selected drive including controller, model, size, and much more!

The Logs tab shows any problems logged since the program was installed. Luckily everything looks good on my computer!

The Disk Performance tab allows you to see Read and Write performance of the selected drive.

Finally the Alerts tab shows any alerts for the selected drive the program has read that could be cause for alarm.

This is just a small sample of Hard Disk Sentinel’s features. In addition to the above it can conduct thorough self testing of drives, surface tests, seek time tests, emergency backup of critical files, and much much more! Hard Disk Sentinel Professional is suitable for both the common home user and serious computer tech. Easy to use. Easy to understand. What more can you ask of a tool that everyone should have in the tech toolbox?

  1. I would love to try this on my NAS drive, it seems to be over heating which concerns me. Hard drives contain data that we deem worth keeping, we should protect rem with due diligence.

  2. Hey,

    What can I say?
Its just a simple and very useful program. Every time, when I reinstall any OS, this prog is one of the firsts, what I take on.
Thanks for the development and for this promotion, hope the best!

  3. Hard Disk Sentinel is an excellent program that provides a wealth of information. There are other utilities that report similar information but they are not as complete as HDS. If you do not use it, you should.

  4. I’m using the free version and like the detailed information on my drives.

  5. Hard Disk Sentinel is just the utility I’ve been wanting for a long time. Hard drive failure is one of those things that you just don’t ever want to deal with but it’s a fact of life. Hard drives fail – and usually at the worst possible time. But they usually don’t fail “all of a sudden” – there are warning signs if you can find them. HDS does a great job of getting and interpreting data from your drives. There are plenty of utilities that show SMART data, but good luck interpreting it. Great utility which excels at what it does!

  6. We use rather basic SMART checks from time to time, but are beginning to use SSD alone or together with hard disks. I am not sure that this software will be able to tell much about the SSDs, but I’m eager to find out.

  7. I am using the Hard Disk Sentinel Standard Edition is a very good and useful program. Please a professional license code

  8. i always knew that HDS is a useful and smart utility and I follow with interest the continuous progress of the new version.

  9. Using the standard edition. I have it setup to run all the time. Provides a robust set of monitoring tools with low overhead.

  10. I have loads of Movies and Music on my hard drives. Would be great to have this software to help me know when my drives are vulnerable.

  11. I recently installed the standard version and it immediately identified two of my portable hard drives were at the critical stage. Fortunately I was able to back up the data and saved myself a whole lot of grief. The pro version would be that much better,

  12. Hard Disk Sentinel is good, and probably the best program to serve the HDD of those that I know. The program covers almost all of the requirements and suggestions for programs of this type. Thanks for giveaway, please count me in.
    Best regards!

  13. I already have Standart Edition and it’s very usefull. I’ll be happy to win a free license so I can see the all functionality of this wonderfull aplikation.

  14. Matthew Nunez

  15. Hi, HD Sentinel is a excellent diagnostic apps. I been using the standard edition to monitor my hard drives and to also help repair faulty ones. There are many great features HD Sentinel provides and I would recommend people should start using it. Please count me, I would love to win a pro license
