1150 Free Movies Online

open-culture-web-site

If you’re a fan of classic movies, then Open Culture is the site for you. They host an impressive list of links to comedies, dramas, Hitchcock, noir, horror, thriller, martial arts, westerns, documentaries, silent, and animated films.

So go to their site, scroll down through the list, find a movie you like, and look for the word Free in blue letters. I like the film Nosferatu (1922), one of the earliest known versions of Dracula. It’s silent and in black and white. When I click on it, I get taken to the Open Culture page but the actual video is hosted on YouTube. If I click on the word YouTube in the lower right-hand corner of the video, I’ll be taken directly to the YouTube page hosting the video.

Note: Not all videos are hosted on YouTube. If you are bored and interested in classic movies, check it out.

  1. Thank you Terry. Just finished watching “Mel Blanc The Man of a Thousand Voices” and tears of joy flowed. Boy am I glad to have watched this movie. Never imagined that the man who gave me so much joy watching cartoons, was responsible for that many voices. A fine tribute to a man many only knew when he used his cartoon voice(s). Hope someone else will discover their treasure in this site, Mindblower!

  2. yeah, that open culture site is pretty good….easy downloads and a good bunch of older movies…good find, thanks
